Haven’t posted too much lately but I was wondering if anyone heard Marek’s show the other day when he and a guest that covers the West were talking about Clarke. They were speculating on attitude issues and wondering if it contributed to him not going to Australia. It is unsubstantiated of course but he does seem to have a bit of smoke in this area. Just thought it was interesting.
Also, the latest ‘32 Thoughts’ is a good listen on the topic of rebuilds and why teams may approach it differently. It’s important to understand that at the end of the day, this is a business.

Can’t remember the guy’s name. I think the episode was after the Jets game. Clarke is interesting. The WJC stuff too. Not saying it’s true but this kind of talk seems to be around him. Even if he is a cocky bastard, sometimes that swagger can be a good thing as long as it doesn’t go to far.
Clarke moved his way up in the lineup, and the WJC coach was also Olen Zellweger's coach in Everett. With a short tournament, the coaches go with guys they know better.
Clarke has some pest qualities, but it sounds like people are just throwing things against the wall without anything substantial. I hate the word, but it's "cringe."

They must have missed the shoulder injury. McClellan publically said that the injury is why he was staying back and it wouldn't impact his chances of making the team.
Their arms must be 20 feet long for a reach like this.

They talk about the injury but still speculate beyond it.

I know they are after hits and drama and all that, but I always find it amusing when podcasts and shows do this. It's the constant dulling of Occam's razor.

58.78 xG% at ES is very good.
At The Athletic, Dom & Co. have the Kings 12th in the power rankings.
I bet if they kicked DOughty off the team he'd have them in the top 5
And if they did that and said something nice about Erik Karlsson he'd put them up top

Fancy stats don’t win hockey games on their own.
I know that they have their place, but I cannot stand them being used as a measuring stick for a successful team.

Spence has a goose egg in all categories through 4 games. When do they call up Clarke? Wish they would give him a few and alternate between the two of them.

Spence was much better yesterday comparing to his two prior games.
I am watching every game of Clarke in AHL and he does not look ready for NHL to me.

Spence was physical last night but correct, they both look bad.
Kings no choice they had to move out Walker and Durzi.
They still have an issue next year if Clarke is ready. Who’s spot does he take?

Spence looks like the second coming of Paul LaDue at this point. Sometimes guys don’t look good or as ready in the AHL because it’s a shit show down there.

In 5 games with the Flyers Sean Walker has 2 goals, 3 points, and averaging over 20 minutes of ice-time compared to the 14 he got with us.

Last night was a bucket of ice water in the face of what this team does against an opponent that matches up our deficiencies. We have serious problems with physical teams and the teams balls shrivel when it’s time to meet adversity. This imho is a speed of the captain speed of the crew issue and Todd just doesn’t take them to the next level.
Panda simply isn’t getting enough out of the lineup.
The team may not have liked Daryl but man those first 3 years he got every drop out of them.

Jordan Spence and Englund are not a good pairing. Together their metrics are awful. Spence is 40% xGF with Englund, over 60% without. Englund isn't AS stark but still better away.

This team has a serious development and deployment problem
They're so allergic to playing guys to their strengths it's sad
We're now the farm team for the rest of the NHL
Don't look up Iafallo or Fagemo or Durzi if these stats make you queasy
So f***ing sick of this organization right now it's beyond words. Might just take a break, not even worth getting excited to watch when it's just letdown after letdown, and now Laf's got his first goal so shrug

Agree 100% it’s like eating eating a rib eye and throwing away the Cap.

Can't even really be mad about Walker, tbh. He wasn't great here, although extremely likeable. Spence, Clarke, Roy, etc are just better pieces but put on a team that's catering to some vets and desperately trying to go for it.

With all of the player movement maybe at seasons end of it’s proven that other organizations are getting more out of our former players that will be enough to initiate. Change from the top of org to the coaching and development staff

It’s concerning that Clarke looked more NHL ready last year than he has this year.
This kind of stagnation and regression is depressingly common for prospects in the Blake era.

They are probably asking him to clean things up in areas and its coming at the expense of his best attributes. They require every player to think constantly about the system instead of going out there to play their game. Laf got lucky with an opportunity to just go out and do what he does and he looks good. Barely any AHL development.

Also coming off of work injury and getting back in the game she fixture playing on 100 point team. He has a lot more free rein on a crappy Philadelphia team plus he should be 100% healthy this year.
Walker was always a decent player that got a bad rap because of his contract and Health concerns. If we didn’t have, Spence and Clarke has lost may have hurt.
I’m glad he’s doing well there as he seems like a very likable guy. Hopefully he gets traded to a contender at the deadline.

This isn't the praise/justification/excuse it feels like you want it to be? You're basically saying the one guy that management has had very little say in developing looks great. Which is a pretty condemning thought in terms of how the management staff is handling player development.
